Perky - Rainbow Bridge
"Perky"
Perky was a Channel Cat Fish. He was about 12 inches long and quite wide. He was 28 years of age when he crossed over The Rainbow Bridge a few days ago on 14th December. Mum got him when he was about three months old, so he has been with us a very long time. What a character he was! He would swim up to the glass and put his lips against it when Mum did it, just as if he was kissing her!
He will be sorely missed.

Casper Home After Second Knee Opertion
Sorry I haven't been around for a while. Caspers' knee op was delayed so he had his second knee surgery last week on Tuesday 4th October (luxating patella). The operation was a lot more problematic than the last knee but he is doing very well indeed. He will be having his staples removed in a few days and then we will be preparing for his hip replacement in the new Year.
This photo was taken 5th October when he returned home after a night at the veterinary hospital. He was having some pain and not feeling too happy, poor Casper, hence the sad face, BUT, he is well on the mend now and back to his happy old self and getting into allsorts of mischief as usual. What would we do without him!

Casper Staples Out

Casper ragging his teddy just before he went to the vets on Saturday (yesterday) to have the staples removed from his surgery. He was soooo brave, it only took a few minutes and he didn't even flinch. We are so very proud of him. The vet is very pleased with his knee and says it has been very successful. Casper is much more confident walking now, still limping due to the surgery, his other knee and of course his hips. But, on the whole Mum says he is doing great. He has to have long rest periods when he has to be crated but he takes it all in his stride.

Casper Bear Has Surgery

| My Brother Casper After His Knee Surgery |
My brother "Casper Bear" (Fallowfens Lord Casper) is recovering from surgery on his left knee for Luxating Patella a nasty condition for him to have to bear along with his Canine Hip Dysplasia.
Casper is only 15 months old and was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at only 6 months of age. His condition has deteriorated over the last few months as a hip replacement is not possible untill he is 18 months of age and has a fully matured skeleton. The Luxating Patella has been a more recent development. Both conditions are genetical, Casper was born with them, this has been confirmed by x-rays.
Casper has now had the left knee operated on and will be having the right knee done in around 6 to 8 weeks, same operation. After that he will be having both hips replaced, one at a time.
The total cost of his treatment will be around £12,000 so Mum and Dad have been in touch with the breeder as Caspers' condition is genetical, to see if they are willing to help with Caspers' treatment, (so far no response). You don't expect to pay £600 for a dog and then have to pay out £12,000 for him to be able to walk do you? Mum and Dad will bear the cost of this on their own if needs be as Casper is a very much loved member of our family, but morally we feel that the breeder should have some responsibilty towards Casper. We will let you know how we get on with this. Good breeder or Bad breeder, that waits to be seen I suppose!
